Use research as evidence, not as a forecast.

Proofmend separates controlled research results, calculations made from published tables, site diagnostics, and observations of changing third-party systems.

Keep technical states and platform outcomes separate

A page can be published and crawlable without being indexed, retrieved, mentioned, cited, visited or converted. Each state needs its own evidence.

01

Retrieval conditions vary

Access depends on the actual crawler or agent, the delivery path and the rendered output it receives. Server-rendered content may reduce dependencies for some agents, but JavaScript support is not uniform and no single rendering rule proves retrieval.

02

Index checks are bounded

A site: query is an incomplete diagnostic, not proof of complete indexing. For a property owner, Google Search Console's URL Inspection tool can report Google's URL-specific status, which still does not establish ranking or traffic.

03

Observations need conditions

Question, platform, mode, date, source set and repeat count belong next to an AI-answer observation. A screenshot alone does not establish a stable change or its cause.

A foundational controlled benchmark

GEO: Generative Engine Optimization is a foundational KDD 2024 paper; the conference record is linked by DOI 10.1145/3637528.3671900. Its reported comparison was produced in a controlled benchmark with a fixed context of five source documents for a query. That is not a live-search ranking test.

Later synthesis remains preliminary

Optimizing Visibility in Generative Engines: A Critical Survey of Generative Engine Optimization (2023–2026) is an arXiv v1 preprint submitted in July 2026. It is useful as a research map, not settled consensus. Its review reinforces the need to distinguish fixed-context benchmark gains from stable, longitudinal, cross-platform effects on organic discovery or downstream behaviour.

//.paid_audit

How this informs the paid Evidence Audit

The Audit records a reproducible baseline, six-dimension diagnosis, gap analysis, prioritised work-order list and 90-day roadmap. It does not include implementation, and research results are not used as promised site outcomes.
